‘Barn Wedding in Lancaster’ by Lancaster local artist Marisa Roseanna
Six more weeks Loopers! The mounds of snow and ice might be gone by then…
Are you still finding joy in the cold? If not, go for a sled ride with some kiddos, double dare ya to not leave with a smile. Speaking of joy, I had a great time attending the ‘Cozendagen’ event at West Art. Easily my new favorite winter holiday. Developed by Cliff Lewis, Cozendagen invites us to stay slow, intentional, and cozy. Not just a day, but a new seasonal celebration.
See ya round the county & city! (always covering both) -Ed
Today’s opening art is by Lancaster local Marisa Roseanna who live paints & sketches at weddings and events.
The painting above was completed at a wedding in Holtbrook, PA. View a recap of her creating it here. Lancaster Loop giveaway: Marisa will be doing a live sketch of a lucky winner at the first Dinner Club event on Feb 26th. Win a chance to go home with a piece of her art by attending the event; dinner details.
Last week’s winner of ‘SOOP in the city’, is nailsdoneby_nicole. Congrats!

Lancaster Get Outside & Ornithologize
Lancaster has a long history of people getting up early to enjoy the good stuff. Here’s an activity to burn a few of those ‘ice cream for breakfast’ calories.
The folks at Lancaster County Bird Club have been out there since 1937, counting warblers, leading walks, and turning sunrise into a community event with field trips, lectures, and nearly 90 years of bird nerd joy.
Their mission is built around four simple things: observing birds, conserving birds, teaching people about birds, and sharing what they’re seeing with others.
Because of where we sit, Lancaster is an ideal setup for birders: rivers, parks, conservancy lands, and farmland create a whole buffet of habitats for both breeding and migratory species. In other words, if you’ve ever thought, “I wonder what’s flying over my head right now?”, the folks at LC Bird Club are your people.
If you want to dip a toe in, their website is a great starting point: local birding sites, rare bird alerts, injured bird resources, and a quarterly newsletter called Call Notes that keeps you plugged into what’s happening in the trees around us.
Check out their event this weekend: Riverwatch for Waterfowl and Gulls at Columbia River Trails Center, Feb 7th 10-1p. loopers flock together

The correct answer of how many gallons of beer does Pennsylvania consume annually is 324.1 million. For visual context, that much beer would +/- fill up Beaver Stadium, gulp. Cheers to the overachievers in the poll comments…you should def UCBE.
