Say it with me…sprrring…ahhh. After a beautiful winter our next season arrived this past weekend just as it should…warm and sunny. You’ll likely find me hiking some trails or taking a ruck around Lancaster County over the next few weeks. Here’s to getting outdoors with your neighbors this season!

We’re jam packed again this week, so let’s get right to it!

DINNER CLUB

The next Lancaster Loop Dinner Club is landing in Lititz on April 9th at 6:30p. Join the 55 people already signed up!

WHAT IS DINNER CLUB?

🍽️ It’s neighbors meeting neighbors. Community built one plate at a time. One unrushed conversation and the opportunity to make a new friend.

🍽️ Take a quick quiz about your interests, food prefs, budget, and what types of folks you are looking to meet.

🍽️ Get matched with five other Lancaster Loop readers based on the quiz results.

🍽️ Find out the morning of the Dinner Club which restaurant you’ll be attending and a clue about whom you’ll be joining at your table (cue the fun suspense). You’ll pay your own way at dinner.

🍽️ Details; Thursday, April 9th 630-8p. After dinner, all guests are invited to an optional after-party to keep the good times rolling. If you’re heart and belly are full, feel free to head home.

Flush with Fun: URINETOWN in Lancaster

Hope you don’t mind a little toilet humor.

If you’ve never heard of Urinetown, don’t let the name fool you. It’s actually a wildly clever, funny, and a little bit weird musical that pokes fun at everything. From politics to big business, rules, rebels, and even musicals themselves they cover it all.

Just like a properly facing roll of toilet paper, (over the top is always the answer), Urinetown is being performed at F&M this weekend. tix here

The story takes place in a town where due to a water shortage, you have to pay to use the bathroom, and if you don’t…well…you get sent to “Urinetown.” It’s full of laughs and it even breaks the ‘fourth wall’ to talk to the audience (Michael Scott would be so proud).

I’ve got two sets of two tickets to give away. Cheers to avid reader Karina L., F&M student for connecting me to the opportunity and tickets!

I’ll do a random name drawing, Thursday at 12p, and the winners’ tickets will be waiting at will call…easy as number 1.

Take a guess below and you’ll be entered to win 2 tickets:

'Urinetown The Musical' is being performed by the F&M Theatre Department this weekend.

What year did Urinetown win 3 Tony Awards?

Lancaster Loop TILE SOCIETY

The Loop is a conduit for community. Once a week, you’ll find a gathering of events, happenings, and things you might enjoy.

Think: Lancaster, PA orchestrated by a guy who loves exploring all the good of our county and is energized to see community being strengthened.

One of my favorite ways to see the Loop coming to life is with curated in-person events. With readers’ approval by way of an interest poll, I lauched a few classes to learn how to play Mahjong!

Mahjong is a tile game played in groups of four. It’s what happens when cards, dominoes, and strategy are mixed together. It’s a fast way to turn neighbors into friends.

Choose the night that fits your schedule best or attend both. The format will be the same each session, an introduction to Mahjong. Learning from two Mahjong experts with plenty of playing!

HOW DO I JOIN? Two days to learn & play:

Where’s Wal’Ed’O?

100% correct guesses - 3 weeks in a row!

Clearly you all are on the ball, even when I pick what I ‘think’ is an obscure location.

Shank’s Tavern was founded in 1814 by a retired riverboat captain and now in the hands of Bob Shank. It’s been in the Shank family since 1930.

I’m also really enjoying the additional notes you all share with your guesses. I read every single one, but life doesn’t allow me time to respond to them all. Please keep sharing your tips!

This week we have one winner. There’s a gift card headed your way Jaelynn O.!

Congrats Jeff D. and Jenn T. from last week - gift cards were sent late, but should be in your email now!

Maybe this week’s location will be a bit tougher?!?

Here’s a clue: Their namesake sandwich features spicy fried chicken, housemade ranch, shaved cabbage, and sweet pickles on a fresh baked kaiser roll.

As always thanks for staying…in the ‘Loop! -Ed
